About our Department:
The General Services Department consists of several divisions in different locations throughout the City. The Facilities Projects Division manages new construction, additions, and alterations of City-owned buildings and parks. The Maintenance Division oversees the maintenance and janitorial services of City-owned structures and properties.
General Services Facilities Worker Position Overview:
This is entry level, facility maintenance work performing installation, maintenance and repair work. Assembles, installs and repairs shuttle bus stop houses. Assembles, installs or repairs fencing, gates and playground equipment; installs or removes soccer and basketball goals; install, repair, and inspect playground equipment; installs and repairs bleachers. Assist other trades in the performance of their work. Assist a General Services Facilities Supervisor or contractors performing more advanced work assignments.
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency or graduation from a technical college accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with some experience and proficiency in a technical related field such as welding, masonry or general construction and facilities maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Possession of a valid Driver's License.
Must Pass the written portion of the CDL, Class B Endorsement test within six (6) months of hire and/or promotion date.
Must pass the driving test and obtain a valid CDL, Class B Endorsement within twelve (12) months of hire and/or promotion date.
