Microsoft Corporation Network Engineer II in Hyderabad, India

We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the network that powers the world’s largest online services. For this position, the candidate should be familiar with network protocols, network devices including network interface cards, switches, and routers. You should feel comfortable working with large-scale distributed systems, in managing the network infrastructure that supports the Azure Cloud infrastructure as well as in designing and building the large-scale distributed systems that manage the network.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for the implementation of new and upgraded data center network with standard platform on network/server technologies carried out in compliance with best practices.

  • Handle project from design to implementation.

  • Collaborate with internal business units and stakeholders and understand the requirements to deliver efficiently.

  • Automate repetitive tasks to reduce implementation time and avoid failure due to human error.

  • Participate in periodic on-call rotation for network incident support, quickly mitigate impact and restore service availability through a software enabled toolset.

  • Evangelize best network engineering practices and processes within and across teams.

  • When issues arise, you troubleshoot live site issues to discover and drive solutions with minimal or no disruption to customers. You also perform testing and validation of network devices, and demonstrate some knowledge of data. You know what data is needed and how to find new or missing data. You provide instructions to the data center on how to repair and maintain physical network hardware, and take notes during incidents.

  • In addition, you participate in postmortem and root-cause analysis processes to continuously improve network reliability. You support innovation and cost management by developing new ideas for systems and tools that meet customer and/or business needs. You proactively share information across disciplines within your feature team in a timely manner with an appropriate level of detail that is tailored to your audience. You provide feedback and some mentorship to other engineers, while also proactively seeking mentorship and feedback from others.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in

  • the networking Industry or large-scale data center network,

  • AND solving broad business problems and analytical skills,

  • AND understanding and authoring machine readable formats like XML, JSON.

  • 1+ years of experience in

  • signal propagation and impairments in Optical fiber and various fiber types, transceiver hardware used at Client and Line end of transmission equipment,

  • AND DWDM and various modulation techniques used for transporting high speed client demands such as 100GE,400GE and beyond on Coherent and PAM4,

  • AND Optical Control Plane, Optical feedback loops, Optical network health parameters (e.g. OSNR,BER,Q-factor etc), L0/L1 protection schemes used in Optical transport,

  • AND integration knowledge of L2 and L3 protocols such as Ethernet, IP, MPLS, RSVP, LACP, Etc.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • • Networking certification.
