Flynn Restaurant Group Fixed Asset Senior Analyst in INDEPENDENCE, Ohio
Position Description
The Fixed Asset Senior Analyst is responsible for overseeing fixed asset transactions, month/year end accounting and close procedures, analysis, assisting with annual audits, and reporting of all fixed and capital assets across all brands of Flynn Group. The role will also be responsible for the review of all technical accounting matters related to fixed assets and to ensure that all activities follow the company’s policies and procedures. Fixed assets will be maintained in SAP.
Essential responsibilities will include:
Policies, Procedures and Administration
Implement and ensure adherence of current and future accounting policies and procedures.
Monitor new and proposed accounting pronouncements and assist in determining impact on company.
Recommend to accounting leadership proposed changes to company’s policies, procedures and controls.
Document and communicate company accounting policies and procedures to appropriate individuals.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Provide management with timely review and analysis of the company’s fixed asset related spend and progress in its various goals and targets.
Manage month-end accounting and reporting processes.
Manage year-end accounting and reporting processes.
Actively scrutinize current reporting and improve quality and function for the stakeholders as needed.
Ad-hoc reporting as needed.
Overall Accountabilities
Ensure the accurate and timely review of incoming fixed asset invoices, coordinate across department to ensure any discrepancies or issues are resolved.
Manage the month-end closing of the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and evaluate account balances. Perform reconciliations, roll forwards and analysis of accounts. Provide information to external auditors for the year-end audit.
Perform ad-hoc projects and technical research to help analyze or support Company decisions. Assist in the preparation of footnote disclosures for the Company’s financial statements. Assist with the timely and accurate reporting of the acquisitions.
Analyze fixed assets for potential obsolescence and recommend to accounting leadership when fixed assets should be disposed.
Provide oversight and review of the Fixed Asset Accountant’s work load and accuracy to ensure timely and accurate recording of fixed assets.
Work closely with internal teams to track, reconcile, report on capital projects spend (actual vs planned).
Determine asset retirement obligations for those fixed assets to which ARO’s are applicable.
Assist with compilation of the annual budget and forecast modeling, as needed.
Assist tax team with tax compliance requirements related to fixed asset.
Special projects as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualified professionals must have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
4 - 6 years of experience performing financial analysis or accounting for a large company and/or public accounting experience (Big 4 firm accounting experience preferred). Fixed Asset Accounting experience a plus.
Must possess strong analytical as well as audit/research documentation skills with great attention to detail.
Able to work in a team environment, as well as individually, to complete comprehensive projects.
Must possess strong Excel skills as well as demonstrated proficiency with general ledger accounting, and financial reporting; SAP experience is preferred but not required.
Must possess good verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to multi- task and work under tight deadlines.
Flexible, “hands-on”, self-starter with strong initiative and work ethic.
Good sense of humor, positive attitude and strong customer service skills.
