DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a County Social Services Aide 1, you will provide routine public contact work for Indiana County Children and Youth Services.  An employee in this class assists and receives training from professional social services personnel in providing services to children, youth, and families.  Work involves scheduling, transporting, and escorting clients to medical, dental, and various other appointments.  In addition, you will provide transportation to foster homes, court hearings, and for recreational purposes.  You will provide basic information to those served and contact clients who fail to keep appointments.  This position assists clients and families with everyday activities of living, home maintenance and care, and distribution and delivery of equipment, clothing, and other belongings of clients.  You will also provide supervision for children during office visits and during crisis situations in the home.  Work involves the performance of routine clerical duties and the maintenance and care of waiting and visiting rooms.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Availability to work outside of regularly scheduled hours. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Graduation from high school; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Other Requirements: This particular position also requires applicants to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension. Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
