Corteva Agriscience Breeder (Research Scientist) - Indianópolis/MG in Indianópolis, Brazil

Description

Reporting to Latin America Summer Central Evaluation Zone Leader, this position is responsible to develop corn hybrids and lines adapted to Brazil Tropical area (focusing in summer). This includes but is not limited to develop and select breeding populations, lines and hybrids using conventional breeding methods and molecular breeding tools, leading/supporting strategic initiatives. Other responsibilities include evaluate diseases and support seed production in this environment, identifying product gaps to be closed by products developed by breeding program.

Populations, lines and hybrids evaluation and selection in the breeding program area.

Breeding Program results presentation during breeding advancement meetings.

Prepare all breeding program entry lists (trials and nurseries).

Organize and write breeding program report and other scientific papers.

Lead and/or support special projects related to molecular breeding.

Active corn tour participation.

100% dedicated to corn breeding activities.

Nurseries and trials evaluation.

Trials results and other data breeding analysis.

Plan and conduct comprehensive research programs.

Develop value-added products.

Support associated breeding projects.

Identify internal and external customer needs.

Presenting scientific findings and other work.

Qualifications

PhD in plant breeding or equivalent.

Fluent English is mandatory. Spanish is desirable.

Good understanding of molecular breeding and corn diseases.

Demonstrated ability to work in dynamic scientific teams and demonstrated ability to contribute to complex breeding projects.

Demonstrated ability to quantitatively evaluate and analyze complex scientific problems, interpret scientific results, and work easily with large volumes of data.

Available for traveling.

Driver license, category B.

Breeding knowledge and practice.

Leadership.

Ability to solve complex problems and carry out work independently and with patience.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Enthusiasm, commitment and a strong interest in plants and plant science.

Computer systems (including Windows applications).

Good understanding of statistical.

Knowledge in Corn seed production.
