Boehringer Ingelheim (Senior) Manager Global Environment and Sustainability in Ingelheim, Germany

The Position

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a highly motivated and experienced (Senior) Manager for our Global Environment and Sustainability Management team. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on compliance in Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting obligations and disclosures. This role is crucial in supporting our commitment to environmental stewardship and ensuring that we meet our EHS&S and ESG related goals and requirements.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you'll be a key player in shaping our EHS&S and ESG strategies, targets, and processes, ensuring that we are on point with global reporting obligations and disclosures.

  • You will monitor and analyze worldwide EHS&S- and ESG-related regulations and industry trends to identify potential risks and opportunities, representing them in internal and external working groups.

  • While collaborating with cross-functional teams, you provide technical expertise to integrate EHS&S and ESG considerations into business operations, decision-making processes, and non-financial reporting obligations.

  • You manage and oversee the collection, validation, and reporting of EHS&S and ESG data to internal and external stakeholders while continuously networking with relevant industry peers and associations.

  • With your expertise, you implement innovative digital approaches in solving EHS&S and ESG issues and develop global software applications and deploy them to regions and sites.

  • Lastly, you provide guidance and training to internal teams on EHS&S and ESG compliance and best practices, ensuring continuous improvement through evaluating and improving EHS&S and ESG performance, reporting, and disclosure practices.

Additional Tasks & Responsibilities as Senior Manager:

  • As Senior Manager you will lead a global network of experts, delivering high-quality technical knowledge to integrate EHS&S and ESG considerations into business operations, decision-making processes, and non-financial reporting obligations.

  • You will be entrusted to shape the strategic direction, roll out the implementation, and oversee the operational execution of a Global EHS&S and/or ESG capability at Corporate and throughout the regions.

  • Additionally, you apply your advanced analytical thought and judgement to direct the resolution of unusual business issues while providing governance for international topic remediation.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Diploma degree (e.g., MBA, MSc) in the field of EHS&S, ESG, Environmental Protection, Engineering, or natural sciences, with experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or in operations

  • In-depth understanding of international EHS&S and ESG regulations, frameworks, and reporting standards (e.g., EU CSRD, Taxonomy, GRI, GHG Protocol, SBTi, CDP, etc.)

  • Proven project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines through strategic and agile thinking

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, as well as willingness to travel abroad (approx. 20%)

  • Excellent command of the English language required, German is a plus

Additional Requirements as Senior Manager:

  • International experience and proven capabilities in leading matrix organizations while driving compliance initiatives and programs
