MJ Electric LLC Project Accountant in Iron Mountain, Michigan
Position Purpose:To provide accounting and operations support to the Iron Mountain Utility Division Regional Office.
Essential Responsibilities
*Develops, analyzes, and interprets accounting, financial and job costing information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness.
*Analyze and interpret EcoSys Forecast Reports (GP Reports).
*Analyze Regional Income Statements and communicate results to operations.
*Work with Operations to prepare and analyze monthly revenue and profit forecasts.
*Support Operations with EcoSys Forecasting & Project Reporting to ensure all are accurate and current. Be a go-to resource for questions and improvements.
*Timely and accurate reporting of the financial deliverables included in the annual deliverable schedule and at the request of regional and corporate management.
*Provide support in the preparation and evaluation of annual financial budgets and business plans.
*Assist in the development and tracking of key performance metrics.
*Analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, contracts, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses and make appropriate recommendations.
*Work closely with Alliance contracts and participate in preparation of monthly Alliance program results.
*Meet monthly/quarterly forecast goals.
*Assist with calculation of the customer's monthly accruals working closely with operations.
*Over/Under billing reconciliation preparation and analysis.
*Oversee and assist with input contracts, change orders, and purchase orders into JDE.Work with Project Managers to process & track change orders (both internal & external).
*Monitor Accounts Receivable aged trial balance.
*Work with Operations to support accounting and reporting requirements of major projects.
*Provides support to Operations and other departments as needed.
Knowledge | Skills | Abilities
*Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
*Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting methods
*Ability to collect and assemble data for the development of financial reports
*Proven communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
*Excellent computer skills including a familiarity Microsoft Office and JDE
*Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Qualifications
*Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
*5 years' financial experience in a construction environment is preferred
*Equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position
Work Environment
*Must be able to remain in a stationary position over 50% of the time
*The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
*Continuously operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, scanner, and computer printer.
*The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and coworkers and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
*Occasionally lifting 20 pounds
