Job Title: Merchandise Accounting Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Merchandise Accounting Specialist to conduct thorough research and analysis to support merchandising accounting activities. You will collaborate closely with vendors to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate financial reporting, assist in closing the AR gap, and prepare and review financial statements. Your role will also involve monitoring and reconciling accounts, providing insights to improve accounting processes, and maintaining organized documentation.
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough research and analysis to support merchandising accounting activities.
Collaborate closely with vendors to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Assist in closing the AR gap by identifying and addressing outstanding receivables.
Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and records to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Monitor and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Provide insights and recommendations to improve accounting processes and vendor relationships.
Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all accounting activities.
Assist with audits and other financial reviews as needed.
Communicate with vendors to clarify invoice submission procedures and ensure compliance.
Guide vendors on the correct process for submitting invoices and resolving any related issues.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a retail or merchandising environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with a high level of accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Understanding of how Universal Product Codes (UPCs) are generated and submitted.
Work Environment
This role involves significant research and collaboration with vendors. A major challenge is the receipt of incorrect invoices, and you will need to communicate effectively with vendors to ensure proper invoice submission. You will also be responsible for addressing and closing an AR gap from a merchandise accounting perspective.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
