Summary: Provides leadership, coordination and management of comprehensive school mental health initiatives. The Whole Child Coordinator will increase awareness of whole child factors and increase the capacity of local schools to plan, develop and implement comprehensive school mental health systems that address, and respond to, the mental health needs of school-aged youth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Work is performed under the supervision of the Whole Child Consultant-Lead.  An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following.  

  1. Collaborate and proactively communicate with Jackson County Intermediate School District (JCISD) staff, local schools, community and State partners.
  2. Coordinate grant-funded comprehensive school mental health initiatives for general education students.
  3. Coordinate and facilitate a cross-sector advisory group of key stakeholders focusing on the social, emotional and mental health needs of children and youth.
  4. Represent JCISD in local and State level collaboratives and collective impact work.
  5. Collect, analyze and share whole child and student mental health qualitative and quantitative data with key stakeholders.
  6. Provide coaching and support to local schools, JCISD 31N funded providers and community based providers in the form of:
    1. Conducting needs assessments, gaps analysis, and resource mapping
    2. Developing and revising systems and protocols
    3. Streamlining processes
    4. Responding to requests for student mental health information from schools, parents, the community, ISD and other agencies
    5. Developing applicable tools and resources
  7. Develop, coordinate and facilitate professional learning and training for schools, JCISD staff, and community partners.
  8. Develop and distribute communication materials to build shared understanding of the Whole Child Framework, comprehensive school mental health and systems change.
  9. Be current in research and best practices of whole child factors, comprehensive school mental health, systems change and resources available for students, families and schools.
  10. Assist in the application, development, maintenance and reporting of whole child related grants and initiatives.
  11. Provide updates on the progress of comprehensive school mental health initiatives, programs, and projects to key stakeholders.
  12. Explore funding, write and submit grant proposals as appropriate with the goal of sustaining supports and services.
  13. Acquire certifications as needed to fulfill responsibilities of the job.
