Hod Tender Job Duties * Not a Laborer position - Must have Masonry related experience. The primary responsibility of a Tender is to keep the Masons installing materials by preparing the area, providing all material before they are needed in the most usable condition possible, aiding in the grouting process, maintaining equipment, utilizing the safest approach possible, and in doing whatever it takes to help the team succeed. The position of a Tender is a very physically demanding occupation. Prepare the Production Area ? Leveling ground and/or removing obstacles in the work area before production. ? Assembling scaffold of various types in safe and efficient ways to: Provide Materials ? Knowing what quality standards are acceptable for each material. ? Knowing and understanding the configuration of the wall and what materials will be used and in what order. ? Stocking the material for each area well in advance of the masons requirements. ? Organizing the placement of material to meet the desires of the Masons and to increase productivity. ? Know the face of the material and how it should be placed when stocking, etc ? Maintaining an organized process by raising material from lower levels as heights increase and not over stocking at the top of the wall. ? Taking care of material until it is used ? Dont let mortar and grout spills ruin material ? Having tempered mortar on the mortar boards just before the masons start time in the morning, after any break, and in the next area before the masons arrive. ? Always maintain the mortar on the boards and/or before putting it on the boards in the most ideal condition to lay (never make a mason temper his own mud). ? Making cuts to exact tolerances (before they are needed when possible). Perform Grouting - Responsible to perform all grouting of structural walls Repetitive turning at the waist, bending at the waist, squatting, stooping, stretching, kneeling, gripping, wrist movement, elbow movement, shoulder movement, etc. Repetitive lifting of objects and/or material weighing up to 35 lbs, frequent lifting of objects and/or material weighing up to 70 lbs, and occasional lifting of objects and/or material weighing over 70 lbs.(Very frequent lifting over the head and below the knees). Climbing ladders to reach work platforms of varying heights. Maintaining uncomfortable or awkward body positions for extended periods. Working in varied and often extreme weather conditions. Working on scaffolding and/or in high exposed places. Verbally communicating (both speech and hearing). Working with loud tools and equipment on a regular basis
