Jay Peak Resort Journeyman Electrician in Jay, Vermont

The Journeyman Electrician installs and repairs wiring, fixtures, power and control equipment by performing the following duties under the direction of a Master Electrician, licensed by the State of Vermont.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring; performs work consistent with specifications and the National Electric Code.

  • Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints.

  • Performs residential and industrial installations.

  • Installs control and distribution equipment such as main distribution panels, load centers, disconnects and other electrical related equipment.

  • Uses electrical and electronic test equipment to measure current, voltage, continuity, and transients.

  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.

  • Properly connects single phase and three phase equipment to power source.

  • Responsible for electrical maintenance, installation and safety of all lifts, water and sewer treatment equipment, and snow making equipment.

  • Corrects and solves various electrical problems related to new construction on the mountain.

  • Responsible for all types of electric heating systems.

  • Assists with operations and maintenance of gas and oil fixed heating and hot water systems.

  • Repairs faulty equipment or systems.

  • Follows established company and departmental safety policy and procedures and all applicable State and Federal regulations pertaining to the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials and hazardous waste.

    SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a Vermont State Journeyman’s License

  • Knowledge of electrical codes

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics

  • Ability to give accurate estimates

  • Ability to access problems, solve and repair

  • Valid driver’s license and be eligible for the company’s motor vehicle policy

  • Must have own transportation and tools
