Position Summary
American Athletic, Inc is a major sports equipment manufacturing company located in Jefferson, Iowa. We are owned by Spalding; a division of Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., & leading international basic apparel company.
We have an opening for a Robotic Welder at our Jefferson, IA facility. This position lays out, fits, and joins together steel and aluminum parts or pieces using various welding processes. Responsible for operating robotic welder, including set up of fixtures, program, and provide input and feedback to engineering on welding fixture design. Starting wage of $25.26 an hour, progressing to $27.26 an hour after successfully completing probation.
AAI is the official equipment supplier to USA Gymnastics®, NCAA® Gymnastics Championships, the YMCA® National Championships, the Nadia Comaneci International Invitational, and the Bart Connor Invitational. AAI is also an official supporter of the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. Spalding has been the official backboard of the NCAA Final Four Championships since 2009 and is one of the most well-known brands in the industry.
Specific Responsibilities
Set up and adjust the welding machine to give proper penetration of weld. Make welds with structural integrity, good appearance, and which adhere to specifications. Repair or rework products as directed.
Lay out, position, align, and fit components together. Bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts to secure in position for welding. Set up equipment fixtures and weld parts. Accurately report labor performed.
Responsible for the day-to-day care and maintenance of the welding machine.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Skill and ability to weld both steel and aluminum and operate a robotic welder.Must be able to effectively view and understand Engineering Drawings and production work instructions.Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.Ability to effectively present information on a one-on-one basis.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide various units of measure.Must be able to pass pre-employment skills testing. Must pass facility-administered testing to obtain powered industrial truck license according to company standards.
Minimum Job Experience Required
At least six (6) months continuous welding experience in a production environment or possess welding diploma or certification prior to employment.Must pass internal welding test for steel and aluminum.Must have received steel and aluminum qualifications internally prior to or within six (6) months of filling the position or have prior diploma or certification from an accredited test facility for steel and aluminum welding.
