Robert Half Staff Accountant in Kalamazoo, Michigan
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role primarily focuses on the management of accounts payable functions, reconciliation of business accounts, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payments. You will also be part of the month-end and year-end closing processes and play a key role in shaping forecasting and budget processes.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately process invoice payments and ensure their timeliness.
• Regularly maintain vendor accounts in ERP.
• Conduct reconciliation of bank, vendor, inventory, and other business accounts periodically.
• Prepare bi-weekly ACH vendor payment files.
• Assist in the management of month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Review P& L and balance sheet accounts monthly to ensure accuracy of journal entries and reconciliations.
• Manage assets under construction and create fixed assets in ERP quarterly.
• Collaborate with Sales Office Manager on ICO invoicing process and provide necessary reporting to management.
• Ensure timely processing of tax payments.
• Promptly reconcile and post credit card transactions.
• Prepare a weekly report of outstanding AR for manager review.
• Recommend process improvements for existing procedures.
• Ensure clear and prompt communication with both internal and external customers.
• Perform any other duties as assigned. Requirements • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar position
• Proficiency in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) practices
• Experience with bank reconciliations and ensuring accuracy of financial records
• Familiarity with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close procedures
• Ability to prepare and record journal entries accurately
• Experience with month end close procedures and related tasks
• Knowledge of NetSuite and its applications in accounting functions
• Proficiency with Oracle and its uses in financial management
• Familiarity with QuickBooks and its applications in accounting practices
• Experience with SAP and its uses in managing financial transactions and records.
