Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Expertise in Advanced Connector Design:
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of past high-speed, high-density interconnect designs and innovations.

  • Invent high-speed, high-density interconnecting product concepts by pushing the stamping, plating, assembly and molding (SPAM) process technology boundaries, or by applying other precision manufacturing technologies, such as photolithography, additive manufacturing, MEMS, etc.

  • Experience in fine-pitch precision interconnects, such as board to board, IO, sockets in fine pitches like 0.4-0.6mm, or other similar precision level electro-mechanical component development experiences are highly valued.

  • Apply in-depth knowledge to contribute to the development of pioneering projects within TE Connectivity.

  • Exploring the technology options by interacting internal and external technology experts.

  1. Technical Proficiency:
  • Preferred familiarity with prototyping methods and advanced manufacturing techniques.

  • Meticulously plan and execute DOEs for proving the concept.

  • Systematically and scientifically study and compare proposed solutions to make data-driven decisions.

  • Possess proficiency in CAD tools, including Creo, SpaceClaim, and AutoCAD.

  • Conduct force and structural analysis using ANSYS Mechanical and other relevant tools.

  1. Project Management and Collaboration:
  • Exhibit a relentless drive to succeed on challenging, advanced projects.

  • Demonstrate patience and resilience in overcoming setbacks and obstacles.

  • Collaborate effectively in a small, cross-functional team environment and work seamlessly across BU and Segment boundaries.

  1. Communication and Presentation:
  • Possess strong communication and presentation skills to convey complex technical information effectively.

  • Interface confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
