Job Summary
The Kenaitze Elder Abuse Prevention Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining administrative duties related to the successful creation and long-term success of the MDT. The Coordinator will serve as an ambassador for Tribal interests as a key community stakeholder in the awareness, prevention, and/or mitigation of Elder abuse, exploitation, and neglect across the community.
Essential Functions
- Under the direction of the Advocacy Supervisor, coordinates monthly meetings for the Kenaitze Elder Abuse Prevention Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)
- Develops and maintains communication and working internal relationships within the Tribe, and those external to the Tribe, particularly with professionals associated with social services, law enforcement, and Elder advocacy
- Arrange meetings, gather and coordinate victim information, engage community partners, develop procedures and protocol for meetings, facilitate interagency discussions, provide case follow-up, and manage data collection for the MDT
- Proactively engages community partners to bridge community resource gaps, identify areas for productive collaboration, and ensure the smooth functioning of the MDT
- Completes in-take assessment identifying need for service/resources available, for Elders' general health, financial, transportation, isolation, intervention/abuse risk, nutrition, respite and other needs
- Works with families and refers Elders to Adult Protective Services (APS), Tribal Court Team, forensic accounting services, and Alaska Aging and Disability Research Center (ADRC), as needed and works as an integral part of the team providing follow up and referrals for victim support
- Coordinates and plans trainings and educational opportunities for the community on complex issues associated with Elder abuse and neglect
- Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO Ordinance

Qualifications
Educat on
- Minimum High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience
- Two (2) years' experience working with elders and vulnerable adults
- One (1) year experience with Critical Incident Reporting with Adult Protective Services (APS)
- Experience in public speaking and public education strategies
License/Certification
- Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire
Preferred
- Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
Special Skills
- Ability to work with highly vulnerable populations, abuse, homelessness, substance abuse, poverty and domestic violence and sexual assault survivors
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training within 90 days of hire
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others
- Ability to coordinate with multiple agencies during and after the initial investigation to ensure clients are connected with appropriate programs, personnel, and resources
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all information and records with no history of breaches of confidentiality
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing adult protection
- Working knowledge of professional ethics related to Elder abuse and neglect investigations
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
