Currently we are looking for a Logistics Customer Support Manager to assist with leading our logistics department to support NASA at the Kennedy Space Center.

We are looking for an innovative professional to assist leading the Logistics Customer Support organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and

experience in logistics management with an aptitude for proactive and continuous process improvement.

Customer Support Logisticians interface with operations and flow management for Logistics support needs and statuses; identify critical items needed to support processing; track critical items on the Logistics Hotboard and Critical Items Listing; generate shipping requests for customers; coordinate with Property/Transportation/Packing and Crating/Freight Traffic for shipments; and monitor shortages, provide shortage status, and provide mitigation support for parts/material shortages.

Additionally, this department is responsible for the Inventory Planning functions on COMET, including: manage materials using the PeopleSoft CIPS and GOLD inventory management systems; evaluate stock on hand and operational requirements to ensure proper inventory is available; tasks include provisioning, cataloging, records maintenance, stock level analysis, replenishments, shelf life management, cleaning and decontamination request, and utilization reviews.

Duties of this position include:

· Fully demonstrates all position requirements of previously successive role.

· Works to lead and set priorities for the Department, along with implementing process improvements.

· Serves as a mentor and leads others in the Department to reinforce process adherence, effective customer interactions, and cultivate organizational success.

· Serves as focal point for work assignments of the group; plans, organizes, and coordinates the activities of personnel. Controls and reviews work to assure timeliness and accuracy of responsible functions.

  • Ensure the logistics support of COMET engineering, shops and operations; assisting employees on the research of available materials, suggested alternate materials, and requirements definition for materials to be procured.

  • Being proactive in working issues with supply chain, including both COMET procured parts/material and those provided by Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners.

  • Prepare a variety of formal and informal reports for both internal and external distribution, as required.

  • Coordinate, compile, and prepare a variety of management related information.

  • Present overarching issues and Logistics status at management, risk and readiness reviews.

  • Develops and supervises employee improvement plans.

  • Establishes and maintains schedules for the group to be consistent with budgetary and time constraints with emphasis on safety of operations.

  • Assists employees with problem resolution; counsels employees and commends, or reprimands as appropriate; conducts performance evaluation interviews; seeks interpretation of company policies as required and informs employees; enforces safety regulations.

  • Conduct meetings to coordinate department activities.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (BS) in related management area; at least 7 years related experience including at least three years of successfully managing people.

Job Requirements

· Requires demonstrated leadership skills evidenced by prior managerial, supervisory, and/or technical leadership experience.

· Excellent communication, presentation, and customer interface skills required.

· Ability to manage resources effectively within budgetary and time constraints.

· Computer experience with Microsoft Office products, internet browsers, and Outlook.

· Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

  • Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.

  • May be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.

  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment

  • Work will mainly be done inside, but fieldwork can be a combination of outside and inside depending on the project.

  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.

  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.

Equipment and Machines

  • Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.

  • Variety of equipment used in performing research.

Attendance

  • Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.

  • Position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task.

  • Must be dependable and punctual.

  • Shift work maybe required.

Other Essential Functions

  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.

  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.

  • Government security clearance may be required in the future.

  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
