We are seeking a talented Design Engineer to join our Kilkeel facility, a key player in the global aerospace sector specialising in advanced composite components that enhance passenger comfort and aircraft efficiency.
As part of our dynamic Composite Interior Solutions team, you will be at the forefront of New Product Introduction (NPI) for cutting-edge composite components. You'll play a pivotal role in transforming innovative design concepts into high-quality production solutions, driving our mission to revolutionize the aerospace industry. What You Will Do:
Innovate and Collaborate : Work closely with the Integrated Product Team to design state-of-the-art composite components, optimising for cost, weight, and quality while aligning with current manufacturing capabilities.
Modeling and Design : Create detailed 2D and 3D parametric models, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BoMs) that exceed design specifications, setting new standards in aerospace engineering.
Team Synergy: Collaborate with your Composite Engineering teammates to ensure all NPI deliverables are met on time and with exceptional quality.
Tooling Design: Design and develop tooling and check fixtures to streamline the manufacturing process and ensure top-notch quality checks on production components.
Continuous Improvement: Implement and support continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to a culture of innovation and excellence.
Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
Versatility: Perform additional duties as needed to support our dynamic business environment.
Essential Criteria
A degree in a related engineering discipline with a minimum of one year's experience in Design or Composite Engineering.
OR
Hold an HND/HNC in a relevant discipline with at least two years’ experience in Design or Composite Engineering.
OR
relevant apprenticeship with four years’ experience in Design or Composite Engineering.
Desirable Criteria
Two years of experience in a Composite Engineering role
Two years of experience with New Product Introduction
Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience using the NX CAD system
One year of experience in creating and optimising design-related procedures
