JOB SUMMARY

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager oversees all site activities related to safety, health, and environmental concerns, aiming to reduce occupational injuries, illnesses, and financial losses. This role includes consulting on accident prevention, interpreting policies, and coordinating training programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and manage EH&S programs, including environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance.

  • Handle environmental compliance tasks such as hazardous materials management, waste handling, and liaising with EPA and DOE.

  • Provide technical advice on disaster preparedness, fire protection, and health hazards.

  • Ensure adherence to the High Voltage Electrical Safety Program and relevant regulations.

  • Manage pandemic requirements, including cleanliness, disinfecting, and health screenings.

  • Evaluate work processes for safety and ergonomics and recommend improvements.

  • Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies and conduct safety audits, investigations, and training.

  • Oversee ITAR scrap management and ensure vendor compliance.

  • Lead the Wellness Team and manage wellness programs.

  • Handle recordkeeping, data analysis, and reporting.

  • Lead the emergency response team and provide technical hazard analysis.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • BS Degree required. Preferably in the Environmental Science, Environmental Engineer/Health, Occupational safety and health, or in the physical or natural sciences (such as biology, chemistry, physics, geology, etc.).

  • May substitute education for 10 years of manufacturing EHS experience.

  • Minimum Five years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with:

  • Should possess a good working knowledge of state and federal OSHA regulations and L&I standards.

  • RCRA regulations as they pertain to Hazardous and Universal waste

  • ITAR scrap processes

  • PSCAA regulations, permits and air and water monitoring

  • Microsoft Office skills

  • Partnering with employees to develop solutions

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing to line and senior management. Adept at persuasive dialogue

Work Environment:

Traditional office and manufacturing environmental conditions. When handling hazardous waste or universal waste, you might need to lift, carry or move 25 pounds or more safely.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

  • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background screen and drug test which includes screening for the use of cannabis .

Base salary range is $102,687- $154,031 per year.
