Google Senior Director, Engineering, Code Assist in Kirkland, Washington

Minimum qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience in managing internal infrastructure, developer tools, or distributed computing infrastructure.

  • Experience designing coding tools, AI-assisted coding, and with the industry and competitor products.

  • Experience building and operating software platforms and cloud services at scale.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other relevant technology related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Gemini Code Assist brings together AI-driven developer assistance into an industry-leading solution optimized for developers. In this role, you will be responsible for leading an engineering team for the external products that make building and operating distributed applications easier with Google’s AI technology.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $323,000-$465,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Lead the intersection of user experience and model quality which involves interacting with and influencing broadly within Google. This presents complexity both in leadership and in technology solutions.

  • Set long-term vision and strategy, lead large, complex engineering teams with an emphasis on user experience, and create meaningful work-back plans to provide current-day operational direction to product and engineering teams.

  • Prioritize features and make trade-off decisions, influencing and driving internal stakeholder alignment on a variety of platform-related topics.

  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders such as Product Management and UX to drive business results.
