Job Responsibilities

FUNCTIONOFTHEJOB:Reports directly to the Systems Trades Supervisor and/or Physical Plant Director. Pool Maintenance and Mechanical Technician Physical Plant Job Description:As the Pool Maintenance Technician, this position will have the following responsibilities included (but are not limited to): maintaining the pool systems including daily testing, chemical addition, maintaining chemical supplies, cleaning of pool deck and pool, and following a daily regular maintenance schedule for various pool system components. As a member of the Mechanical Trades department, this position will also have duties and responsibilities that include (but are not limited to); University Fountain maintenance, campus water softeners maintenance, plumbing andHVACrepairs as needed. This position will maintain orderly storage of tools, materials, and equipment; and be available for overtime and weekend scheduled events. DUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Trouble-shoot malfunctioning equipment, then work to restore proper function. 2. Clean and maintain the University water fountain, chemicals, equipment, filters, and etc. 3. Work on all components of University pool, including controls, pumps, motor drives, heating coils, piping and valves, heat exchangers, etc. 4. Maintain the Universities water softeners, provide salt as needed, test water, and perform repairs as needed. 5. Initiate requests for necessary parts and supplies. 6. Complete work order documentation upon completion of work. 7. Maintain orderly storage of tools, materials, and equipment. 8. Be available for emergency night calls. 9. Be available for overtime and weekend scheduled events. 10. Assume all other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Systems Trades Supervisor, including some maintenance duties outside of specialty. ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:

  1. Must have the ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings, product instructions and cautions, work orders and work safety procedures.
  2. Must have the ability to use hand and power mechanical trade tools and equipment.
  3. Must have the ability to lift 60-lbs.
  4. Must have the ability to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms.
  5. Must have the ability to understand and follow instructions given by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: The wide scope of this position requires an understanding of a variety of areas and repairs, such as plumbing and minorHVAC. Must have a work history that shows dependability, strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team. High School graduate orGEDrequired. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license required. Candidates will be evaluated on verifiable past employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior work experience with pool maintenance or in a university or similar institution is preferred.
