Position Summary

As Senior Lipids Specialist within our NPTC Nutrition based in Konolfingen, you are the worldwide Nestlé Expert regarding a broad range of lipids used in products of our Nutrition, Dairy, Health Science and Beverage Whitener Businesses. For certain materials, the scope of this role goes beyond these products and encompasses the entire Nestlé portfolio. You provide scientific and technical expertise and proactive, high-quality support on fats and oils, antioxidants and encapsulated oils to the teams of R&D (product development and technical), Businesses, Corporate Units and Operations (incl. factories worldwide). You collaborate closely with the corresponding teams at Nestlé Research and Procurement. You are the primary contact for our suppliers who provide these ingredients.

At Nestlé Research and Development in Konolfingen near Bern / Switzerland, we develop for Nestlé worldwide, new products, processes and packaging concepts for a broad range of products of our Nutrition, Dairy, Health Science and Coffee businesses. In addition, we also provide technical assistance to our factories.

A Day in the Life of a Senior Lipid Specialist

  • Proactively provide scientific and technical expertise on Lipids, including recommendations on the most appropriate lipid due to nutritional positioning of our products

  • Assess material composition, quality and supplier capabilities

  • Assess the possible impact of new or changed manufacturing processes on lipids

  • Guide factories on the use of newly developed materials

  • Build and maintain close contacts with a broad range of lipid manufacturers on a global level

  • Manage or support lipid projects Cat 1 to Cat 3

  • Act as the primary in-house technical contact on quality issues and in case of raw material crises

  • Provide technical support to Procurement on raw materials, including assessing suppliers in all aspects

  • Provide to R&D and Operations the required documentation for sourcing (RMPS) and recipe management (RMS) and optimize the approach for writing these

  • Build ingredient knowledge within Nestlé by participating in external trainings, conferences, and networks

  • Provide support on the Lipids to the intellectual property department

What will make you successful

  • Proven senior experience as a senior Lipids specialist

  • In-depth understanding of lipid manufacturing processes

  • In-depth understanding of the analytical methods used on lipids

  • Experienced in supplier management

  • Sound knowledge of the regulatory framework in lipids, worldwide

  • Strong prioritization & organization skills

  • Outstanding collaboration and teamworking skills

  • Excellent stakeholder management & communication skills

  • Conscientious with strong attention to details and capacity to work within tight deadlines

  • Fluency in English (spoken & written), other languages are a plus
