Shell Indirect Tax Specialist in Krakow (City), Poland
This position is for a 12 months fixed term contract.
Specialist in MIT Department is responsible for executing Tax Compliance for high risk Shell entities. Through that, the person is protecting Shell License to Operate and has direct impact on securing company cash by avoiding penalties & interests resulting from Tax incompliance. Specialist MIT is also responsible for identifying cash opportunities in MIT area and delivering value by implementing Ways of working allowing to benefit from these opportunities.
MIT Krakow department is covering Indirect Tax Compliance for Shell entities in Europe, Latin America, Middle East, Africa and Kazakhstan. We prepare annually around 11.000 returns and we initiate around 8.000 Tax payments. We work on a daily basis with other departments across Finance and the Business to protect Shell License to Operate by ensuring that all Legal & fiscal requirements are met.
What you will do:
Prepare and File Tax Returns and secure timely Tax payments,
Prepare other Tax-related reporting activities, which are required by the law (examples: Intrastat, Statistical reporting etc),
Respond to internal and external audit requests and perform tax related accounting activities,
Operate effectively process & system related controls in line with Finance Control Framework,
If needed, gather and reconcile Tax & Finance data to support Tax return preparation process,
Work across Tax, Finance and the Business to resolve root causes of typical and non standard Process issues,
Risk Management for assigned scope: effectively manage end-to-end Indirect Tax risks by resolving complex, high impact, non-routine technical and practical local and cross-border Indirect Tax issues by applying experience and knowledge of legislation, practices and procedures,
Continuously analyze risk vs value status for assigned scope, analyze, raise and manage all situations, when suspicious, non standard trends are noticed,
Interpret new Legal & Fiscal Requirements and/or adapts existing L&F Requirements to new situations,
Build and maintain an excellent relationship with stakeholders (example: local Tax Advisors, Country Tax Leads),

Your skills:
Good Level of English,
University degree, preferred in Accounting/Finance/Tax,
Previous backgrounds in Finance/Accounting combined with Tax experience is necessary,
Ability to work with large number of data including analyse, verify and improve data quality,
Attention to details, ability to work with proper due diligence,
Excellent communication skills allowing to communicate effectively with peers, Line Manager and other Stakeholders,
Ability to work under pressure of time and workload to meet deadlines.
Nice to have:
Working experience in using SAP,
Experience with tools used in indirect tax process,
Technical / system background required for performing assigned scope (MS Office, Power BI, VBA etc),
Experience with digital transformation within indirect tax area.
