The Global Field and Technical Enablement Team is focused on increasing and improving Akamai’s technical educational offerings for our partners, Field, and GSS organization though advancing our capabilities via state-of-the-art hands on learning environments such as labs, demos, apps and virtual classrooms. By focusing our educational offerings on product, competition, market, professional certifications, and interpersonal skills, we will help elevate the organizations we support to the next level of technical value selling and consulting experts.

About the Role

The Technical Enablement Strategist is responsible for gathering yearly, quarterly, and monthly training requirements, creating and managing training programs using best practices, and maintaining program measurements (ROI/ROL), all building employee competencies within an environment of continuous learning. The TES will work closely with their management team, Subject Matter Experts, and GSS, PreSales and Field Leadership to capture learning needs, offer learning solutions, and design learning programs.

As a Technical Enablement Strategist, you will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with the Field and Technical Enablement members & Services and Support leaders to scope and address both short and long-term learning needs for all levels of their organizations.

  • Designing, developing, and implementing a multi-phased learning and development strategy for employees that support the business objectives and goals of each Services and Support group.

  • Analyzing learning needs, determining project goals, learning objectives, and performance measurements by collaborating with subject matter experts and project managers.

  • Drive the end-to-end curriculum development process.

  • Design and develop learning content using instructional design best practices in a variety of methods including eLearning and instructor-led.

  • Tracking and evaluating effectiveness of launched curricula / programs delivered by creating & administering evaluation processes both prior to and after training engagements.

  • Ensuring quality control of instructional design and content.

  • Administering pilots to evaluate and revise training materials.

  • Managing and coordinating a means of reporting return on learning and return on investment

  • Assisting in the training and enablement budget management and tracking, quarterly

  • Research and keep abreast of evolving instructional design standards and innovations in the industry.

Key Activities

Key activities of the team include but are not limited to:

  • Growing our technical, customer handling, and product knowledge proficiency.

  • Architecting hands on solutions across Akamai’s key Product lines (WebExp, Security, Media).

  • Driving quality and collaboration in our Product Communities and SME program.

  • Developing and maintaining a Technical Enablement sandbox environment to create scalable labs, demos, apps, tool and virtual classrooms.

  • Working with current and identifying new 3rd party vendors to create Technical Value Selling, Consulting, and Industry Certified experts.

  • Overseeing and maintaining all GSS, Field, and Partner Technical training repositories.

  • Delivering Competitive, Market, Architectural landscape, Certification programs by Product Lines and GSS functions (Pre-Sales, PS, Service Delivery, Support).

  • Partnering with Corporate Educational Organizations, Service Enablement, Global Standards and SME Programs to elevate our world class GSS organization.

  • Inspiring GSS members with relevant and engaging content and tools and career growth opportunities.

  • Acting as unified voice for GSS Education programs.

  • Earning customers for life with consistent, high quality delivery and technical learning opportunities.


Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience associated with training creation or delivery

  • Great presentation skills and the ability to create high quality training

  • Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously to completion

  • 2 years of experience with project management

Desired Skills

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS)

  • 2+ years of related experience and a passion for leading and developing individuals to meet their highest level of potential

  • Proven track record in developing and delivering innovative and sustainable training and enablement solutions.

  • Able to lead and develop high-performing training programs.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with many different roles and department boundaries and influence all levels of the organization.

  • Thrives in a collaborative and team-oriented culture.

  • Possess solid knowledge of and understanding of the training industry, trends, current learning technologies, assessments and survey platforms.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Seek and Embrace Change - Continuously improve work processes rather than accepting the status quo

  • Growth and Development - Know or learn what is needed to deliver results and successfully compete

  • Must be: a self-starter, team player, detail oriented, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly organized with the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to establish and maintain quality relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability and interest to develop high quality training curriculums.
