Manulife Manager, Audit and Advisory Services Asia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The opportunity

As the Manager, Audit and Advisory Services Asia, you will deliver high-quality, professional audit services that are both cost-effective and essential to our organization. You will implement a risk-based approach to internal audits, ensuring our processes are beneficial and impactful. You will be managing or participating audits mainly for Hong Kong and Macau business operations, and occasionally support audit projects in other markets, keeping us at the forefront in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver High-Quality Audit Services: Ensure professional, cost-effective, and risk-based audit services for the Manulife insurance and retirement operations. Execute audit and advisory assignments and special projects in accordance with department and IIA standards.

  • Manage Audit Projects: Manage and communicate expectations regarding work deadlines and deliverables. Take the lead of audit and advisory assignments and special projects and collaborate with other team members.

  • Assist in Audit Plans : Assist in audit planning, executing engagements to deliver on the annual plan and assist project leads in reporting.

  • Evaluate Risk Management Practices: Develop adequate understanding of the risks being handled by the unit being evaluated to assess the risk management practices and practical recommendations for improvement.

  • Post-audit Validation s : Oversee timely implementation of remediation actions and issue closure by management.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Support global and regional departmental initiatives and enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and consistency of audit services.

What we are looking for

  • University graduate, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related disciplines.

  • 5+ years relevant experience in internal/external auditing, risk management, compliance, quality assurance, or consulting experience, preferably gained from Big-4, insurance, or financial institutions.

  • Good knowledge of life insurance and retirement business, audit methodologies, control frameworks, risk management techniques and regulatory requirement.

  • Recognized accounting (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) or auditing (CIA, CISA) professional designation or insurance designations (i.e. FLMI, ALMI)

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, oral and written in English. Proficient in speaking Cantonese and able to read Chinese is a plus.

  • Proficient in CAAT tools such as Excel (coding in VBA), PowerBI, SQL, Python, etc. is preferred.

  • Relevant business experience outside of internal or external audit will be an asset.

  • Results oriented and able to strike balance on multiple priorities and projects.
