Function
- To serve as a nutrition classroom teacher (0.6 FTE) and in athletic trainer duties (0.4 FTE).
- DEPARTMENTS: Athletics, Physical Education, Health
- PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide nutrition classes for students during regular school day and athletic trainer coverage for high school athletic programs.
\ Responsibilities and Requirements\ \ CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
- CURRICULUM: know and be guided by the curriculum guides of the Arizona department of education, district and the school
- LESSON PLANS: maintain a plan book of daily instruction based on district curriculum guides, and emergency plans in the event of illness
- OBJECTIVES: establish and communicate to students well-defined objectives for each lesson, including related projects and activities
- INSTRUCTION: be responsible for an instructional program and the utilization of teaching methods which consider the individual needs, interests, abilities and maturity levels of the student
- CONTENT: responsible for following the curriculum guidelines as approved by the State Career & Technical Education (CTE) Program Guide and CIP Codes. Responsible for teaching Life Connections concepts which includes: 1) occupational information 2) laboratory experiences directly related to current practices in the industry; 3) basic skills; 4) learning activities centered around Child Development, Family Relations, Foods & Nutrition, Money Management & Consumerism, Textiles & Clothing, Education, & Communication
\ ATHLETIC PROGRAM
- Establish an effective athletic trainer program for LHHS athletics.
- Provide coverage for all home athletic events and sports practices; responsible for providing medical equipment to team(s).
- Ensure overall student athletes are tended to appropriately before, during and after all athletic events including practices.
- Coordinate the annual required athletic physicals and supervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during sport seasons.
- Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
- Maintain equipment athletic training room; evaluate facilities for hazards and inadequate equipment and report concerns to Athletic Director.
- Assist and advise coaching staff in the selection, care and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads or braces.
- Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport specific conditioning programs and methods; work with coaching staff on proper use of equipment.
- Provide first aid and injury assessment/treatment/rehabilitation/reconditioning for LHHS student-athletes; responsible for the initial treatment of athletic injuries and conditions.
- Knowledge of HIPPA policy which maintain confidentiality of information regarding student medical information.
- Responsible for contacting parents and referring athletes with injuries to physicians for diagnosis and/or treatment of athletic injuries. Carry out appropriate instructions and treatment as directed by athletes physician.
- Develop and supervise rehabilitation program for student athlete under direction of a physician; maintain a daily treatment log.
- Report all injuries to the athletic office on the proper form and maintain documentation of specific injuries; responsible to appropriate documentation of athletic injuries and treatment plans.
- Share professional literature relative to athletic training with the schools coaching staff.
