BUS DRIVER / LEAD SCHOOL FARMWORKER / GROUNDSWORKER - KERN VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

  • $3,582.20 a month
  • 6:30 am - 2:30 pm
  • M-F year-round, eight (8) hours a day
  • 4 hrs - Bus Driver 2 hrs - Lead School Farm Worker 2 hrs - Groundsworker

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years of farming experience is desirable.
  • One year of paid experience in grounds keeping, landscape or general labor work is preferred.
  • One year of experience as a bus driver or truck driver.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid CDL

MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN A VALID AND APPROPRIATE CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S LICENSE AND A CALIFORNIA SPECIAL DRIVER CERTIFICATE.MUST SUBMIT A RECENT DMV (3 YEAR MINIMUM) DRIVING RECORD WITH APPLICATION.A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE TRAINED AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THE KERN HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT'S NEEDS WITH REGARD TO ASBESTOS AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS.* . Requires knowledge of the provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code and Educational Code as it applies to operating vehicles and transporting students; basic first aid practices, procedures, techniques; and safe driving practices as well as the knowledge of grounds keeping and gardening methods and practices; the safe use, maintenance, and operation of grounds keeping tools and hand power equipment; the safe use and application of pesticides and herbicides for pest/weed control purposes; modern farming methods, techniques, and practices; the care of feeding farm animals and livestock; the safe and proper operation and maintenance of farm equipment and machines including tractors, discs, planters, feed mixers, cement mixer, chainsaw, etc.; weed and pest control methods, techniques and practices; basic electrical, plumbing, welding, and carpentry repairs and related tools; planting, irrigating, and fertilizing corps; and routine grounds keeping methods of pruning, trimming, caring for vineyards and orchards.

Must possess the skill to effectively and safely use hand in hand power tools associated with grounds keeping and landscape work; understand and follow both oral and written instructions in an independent manner; read and write at a level necessary to perform required duties successfully; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties; effectively operate and maintain farm equipment and tools; make routine electrical, plumbing, welding, and carpentry repairs; quickly identify problem situations and areas and take appropriate action to resolve problems identified; prepare routine reports and correspondence; effectively care for and feed farm animals and livestock; establish and maintain proper student conduct on school vehicle; drive a school bus safely and efficiently; to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving; maintain valid certification as school bus driver according to State regulations; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Drives a school transportation vehicle with a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging students at designated stops; escorts and assists students on and off vehicle and across street when necessary; transports students and teachers on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed; maintains order and proper discipline of student passengers according to District policy; conducts safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily; services buses with gas and oil; checks and fills tires and batteries; evacuated vehicle in safe and timely manner when necessary and conducts periodic drills for same as required by law; com *
