American Battery Solutions has a full-time opening for a Supervisor, Product Engineering in Lake Orion, Michigan. Job Summary The Supervisor, Product Engineering serves as a hands-on leader responsible for the design, development and delivery of components, sub-assemblies, and packs through the product development lifecycle. The Supervisor, Product Engineering is an experienced technology leader who applies wide engineering knowledge and best practices to contribute individually and manage engineering project teams. The Supervisor, Product Engineering guides the team in executing tasks in alignment with the project deliverables provided by management. Supervisor would execute individual Design Release Engineer (DRE) tasks as needed to enable project execution. The Supervisor, Product Engineering is comfortable applying technical knowledge to innovative designs, driving resolution of challenges, managing direct and indirect reports and taking ownership of new product development activities. Responsibilities * Drive new product development and the creation of tools and processes supporting efficient design. * Hands-on application of technical knowledge to the on-time delivery of work products through the product development life cycle for each project. * Utilize technical awareness to proactively identify and mitigate risks in design delivery. * Supervise day-to-day operations of DRE's and enable task execution. * Execute team management activities including one on one meetings, team meetings etc. * Ensure that materials, components, and pack solutions meet internal and customer requirements. * Support the evaluation of supplier information, specifications, and validation data to support the selection of appropriate suppliers. * Align with the Advanced Manufacturing and Manufacturing teams to identify design improvements and processes to support Design for Manufacture/ Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA). * Ensure prototype builds occur on time and that components are to print. * Establish and manage direct and indirect labor costs. * Expand professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars and conferences, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks. * Maintain a safe and clean working environment. * Adhere to federal and state regulations. * Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures. * Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. * Predictable and reliable attendance. Position Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree. * Minimum of eight (8) years of product development and engineering experience in a manufacturing-focused environment. * Minimum of two (2) years of progressive supervisory or management experience. * Minimum of two (2) years of experience in executing design, engineering and testing based on common automotive and industry standards. * Minimum of one (1) year of design, engineering, manufacturing, or service of lithium-ion battery systems in either a hands-on role or in a supervisory role. * Adept in troubleshooting methods and disciplined documentation of findings. * Effective communicator, capable of concisely presenting highly technical data to internal and external customers. * Familiar with the product development process. * Self-motivated problem solver; pays attention to details. * Challenges the status quo and strives for continuous improvement. * Ability to travel up to 20%.
