The Arc Erie County NY Residential Coordinator in Lancaster, New York

The Arc Erie County New York has been supporting children and adults with disabilities, and their families in achieving their desired quality of life by creating opportunities through comprehensive services for over 65 years.

The Arc Erie County is currently seeking a Residential Coordinator for its Residential program located in Lancaster NY. Why Achieve with The Arc Erie County? Becoming a Residential Coordinator for us means:

+ + Develops programs and/or coordinates services to provide residential placements to individuals based on their interests, needs and available funding. Submits proposed programs/service to the Director, or Associate Director for approval.

  • Determines the manpower resources needed to carry out planned and existing services; recommends same to the Director, and the Associate Director.

  • Develops and assures implementation of appropriate record keeping systems for Residential Services.

  • Recommends job functions within Residential Services; oversees the selection and assignment of staff with approval of Director.

This position is Full Time (40 hrs.), typically Monday-Friday 9:00am- 5:00pm, hours may flex. The starting rate is $23.00 per hour. To be considered for this position, you’ll need:

Master’s Degree in a Human Service field, including but not limited to Counseling and Psychology PLUS three years of experience working with the developmentally disabled in a residential setting, which includes one-year supervisory experience.

OR

Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service field, including but not limited to: Sociology, Special Education, and Rehabilitation PLUS five years of experience working with the developmentally disabled

OR

Associate ‘s Degree in a human service field, including but not limited to: Sociology, Special Education, Rehabilitation PLUS (6) years’ experience working with developmentally disabled and (4) years of Supervisory

OR

High School Diploma PLUS (7) years of experience working with the developmentally disabled which includes (5) years of supervisory experience

PLUS

Knowledge of community support available to persons with developmental disabilities with an emphasis on residential supports/programs. Ability to interpret and implement OPWDD regulations and Mental Hygiene Laws as they apply to the operation of programs. Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and coordinate efforts of families, staff and collaterals in a team approach to the provision of services. Maintain Medication Administration, First Aid Certification, CPR and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention- Revised Training (SCIP) on an annual basis.

Position Summary:

Under supervision of the Associate Director of Residential Services, the Residential Coordinator will be responsible for aspects of services, apartment situations, and other housing services including but not limited to: admission and discharge, supervision and evaluation of clinical staff, staff training, certification, compliance with OPWDD regulations, monitoring of individualized program planning, maintenance of facilities, and development and revision of procedures as necessary.

Reporting Relationship:

Under general supervision of Associate Director of Residential Services and the Director of Residential Services, gives supervision to Residential Team Leader and direct-care staff as needed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Development

  • Develops programs and/or coordinates services to provide residential placements to individuals based on their interests, needs and available funding. Submits proposed programs/service to the Director, or Associate Director for approval.

  • Determines the manpower resources needed to carry out planned and existing services; recommends same to the Director, and the Associate Director.

  • Assists the Director, or Associate Director in preparing annual budgets for programs; submits all required fiscal reports as necessary.

  • Develops and assures implementation of appropriate record keeping systems for Residential Services.

  • Service Management and Coordination

  • Supervises the admission and discharge process for Residential Services including the assurance of appropriate funding for services.

  • Assures the development and implementation of each individual's individualized program including service linkage to collaterals. Promotes natural supports in the community.

  • Monitors the quality and completeness of all clinical and administrative records to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and adherence to agency policy and procedure.

  • Oversees development of all staff training in mandatory, as well as, optional training areas; maintain and manage individual funds in accordance with regulatory and funding source standards and guidance.

  • Interprets applicable Federal, State, and County regulations and laws, develops policies and procedures for compliance to same.

  • Participates in planning groups and committees as assigned, to assure continuity of programs. Develops and maintains relationship with collaterals and other administrative personnel of similar community agencies.

  • Staffing and Supervision

  • Recommends job functions within Residential Services; oversees the selection and assignment of staff with approval of Director.

  • Organizes and implements a program of staff supervision.

  • Assures regular written evaluation and feedback in job performance consistent with Agency policy.

  • Provides supervisory guidance for all staff corrective action.

  • Approves and participates in all individual termination decisions and exit interviews.

  • Facility and Safety Management

  • Assures security of each residence including individuals, personnel, equipment and materials.

  • Assures that State and Agency regulations regarding the operation and maintenance of residential facilities are met.

  • Participates in rotating on-call system for all emergencies as outlined in the program policy and procedure.

  • Responsible for regular visitation to assigned sites including evenings and weekends.

  • Administers medication to individuals, provides first aid when necessary and addresses routine health care needs.

  • Coordinates development and monitors behavior modification programs as needed.

  • Responsible for maintenance and monitoring of Quality Assurance guidelines including reporting, reviewing and follow up of incidents.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

PLUS

A valid NYS Driver’s license and approved driving record is required. Vehicle in good operating condition.

  • Equipment Operation:

The ability to operate business equipment; telephones, fax machines, copiers, calculators, etc. Proficient in the operation of the computer’s hardware and software including applications and programming.
