As a member of the Product Development team , the Design Engineer will have responsibility for all technical aspects of product design from concept ideation through commercialization. This position will work closely with Customers, Sales, Product Development Engineers, Project Managers, R&D, Manufacturing and Commercial Development to drive next generation product designs that will ultimately lead to profitability and growth.

POSITION IS LOCATED IN LANCASTER, PA

Responsibilities

  1. Plan, organize, and direct custom and proprietary designs from the initial contact with the customer through the final production design

  2. Work with the customer and Product DevelopmentDirector to clearly identify design goals and develop an end product that satisfies the defined objectives

  3. Design considerations must include best-in-class features, whether existing Berry or competitive solutions (subject to IP restrictions)

  4. Work closely with Blue Clover, Product Development Engineering, Marketing and Sales on new product development

  5. Create documentation necessary to convey design solutions (internal & external)

  6. Coordinate and manage all aspects of design

  7. Maintain Berry’s vast database of existing and commercial product drawings as required by business needs

  8. Adhere to Berry’s Management of Change, ISO, industry, and/or regulatory procedures

  9. Facilitate technical analysis and design reviews on all designs that are moving to the prototype and production phases

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in related fields.

  2. Experience with 3D computer modeling, preferably SolidWorks and/or Pro/Engineer

  3. Strong skills in core design competencies: stack-up analysis, sketching, concept ideation, presenting, problem-solving

  4. Knowledge of injection molding part design, processing, and tooling preferred

  5. Ability to travel as needed (5-20%)

  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  7. Self-motivated individual

  8. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, be a proactive thinker, and be results-oriented

  9. Experience with Finite Element Analysis and MoldFlow a plus

  10. Possess a strong aesthetic sense with the ability to bring meaningful form to concepts (creativity)

  11. Strong team player with an exceptional positive “can do” attitude

  3. Adherence to Berry MOC, ISO, EPDM, etc...

  5. Continuous Improvement & Expansion of Subject Matter Expertise
