The Lansing Board of Water & Light has an opening for a* Financial Accountant I -- III* in Lansing, MI.

Job Type: Full-Time Salary Range: $65,300 - $90,100 FA I   / $72,500 - $101,600 FA II / $80,600 - $114,400 FA III

Position Summary:

Responsible for one or more areas of financial accounting and reporting for the BWL and related entities.  Maintains accounting records, supporting schedules and reconciliations, analyzes financial information, and prepares a variety of financial reports.  

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares, enters, and posts journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations for select accounts.
  • Performs bank reconciliations.
  • Assists with record retention activities, including attachment of JV documents in SAP.
  • Tracks and reports on balanced scorecard measures.
  • Assists with creation and closure of work orders, asset disposals, miscellaneous projects, and uploading documents to OnBase.
  • Assists with year-end audit tasks. Processes petty cash reimbursement requests.
  • Provides backup support for other employees within the department, and assists other areas in the Accounting, Finance and Planning Department during high work volume periods.
  • Follows and enforces the BWL Safety Manual and wears personal protective equipment as required.
  • Attends training for safety awareness or skills improvement as required by supervisor, BWL or governmental agency such as MIOSHA.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.
  • Expected to comply with all BWL policies and work rules.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested by supervisor.
