Tresco Rest Area Supervisor in LAS CRUCES, New Mexico
Overview
Under general supervision, work on-site at assigned rest areas to ensure janitorial and grounds work are completed according to contract specifications. Primarily responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned rest areas and rest area employees in accordance with established procedures and standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, evaluate, train, mentor, and assist onsite rest area employees in developing appropriate work habits, skills, and attitudes. Serve as an exemplary role model while working alongside employees.
- Coordinate staff development activities including job specific orientation for new employees and ongoing staff development for all personnel assigned.
- Collaborate and work cooperatively with Highway Supervisors and onsite Leads regarding the daily operations and maintenance of rest areas, to include reporting all issues/concerns to Highway Supervisor.
- Assist and substitute for the janitorial crew as needed, including working various shifts such as evenings, holidays, and weekends
- As the Rest Area Onsite Supervisor, duties include working on assigned projects, accurately documenting completed work, and performing grounds and janitorial maintenance as needed. This maintenance is not limited to:
- Restocking restroom hand soap and toilet paper
- Cleaning shelter tables, benches, to include washing out shelters
- Cleaning and polishing outside drinking fountain
- Picking up liter in the parking lot and on the curbs
- Removing and replacing trash liners and remove trash bags to dumpster
- Prune trees
- Organize the workflow and prioritize the tasks of assigned staff to achieve maximum efficiency.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES. Other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education. High School or GED.
Experience. One year experience in general maintenance and repair, leading and/or supervising a team, and experience in the janitorial and/or landscaping fields; or any equivalent combination of training and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills. Experience working with persons with disabilities is strongly preferred but not required.
Education/Experience substitution. In accordance with Tresco policy.
Licenses/Certifications. Valid drivers license.
Other (e.g., post-offer drug screen, background check, drivers license record, etc.). Employees must undergo a drivers license record check; employees must pass a background check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
