Virginia Department of Corrections Farm Supervisor, Agribusiness (Hourly): Lawrenceville Correctional Center #W0061 in Lawrenceville, Virginia
The Virginia Department of Corrections Agribusiness Unit is charged with providing agricultural training opportunities to inmates to enhance re-entry and reduce recidivism, while reducing food cost for the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC).
Perform daily duties of a large farm operation which includes production of row crops, vegetable crops, lumber products, maintenance of buildings, grounds, roadways and the operation and maintenance of all farm equipment utilizing inmate workforce. Provide training, supervision and evaluation to inmate workforce while performing all farm tasks.
This is a wage/hourly position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 - April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This position offers no state benefits.
