Job Overview

Lead a global team in design of product and process activities for small-scale new product development and product line sustainment across medium and high voltage switchgear products. The team you will be leading is currently working on adoption of model-based definition and model-based enterprise strategies focused on proficient reuse of collateral within modeling, simulation, and analysis activities into operations engineering handoffs. The team members you will be working with and leading are in Leeds, AL, Juarez, MX, and our Hubbell India offices. Team members report through direct and matrixed reporting structures.

A Day In The Life

  • Primary focus is MV/HV Switchgear and related components

  • Leading the execution of the technology roadmap

  • Leading the team in sustaining and development activities focused on modeling, simulation, and analysis and ensuring compliance to internal and external standards for these deliverables is met

  • Fostering training and career development in hard and soft skills

  • Working with program management to execute on-time and on-budget new product development and Design to Value projects

  • Managing the engineering change process and required peer review for design content

  • Managing day to day activities for customer complaints, engineered to order product, and internal root cause and corrective actions

  • Creating and managing the budget across design engineering

  • Ensuring the team is providing required technical assistance to Applications, Process, and Quality Engineering

  • Managing and driving communication across project teams, business unit staff, and through monthly and quarterly reporting

  • Collaborating with other engineering teams across the organization

  • Travel requirements involving off-site testing of products, marketing support, industry events

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Engineering or equivalent STEM discipline

  • Master of Science in mechanical or electrical engineering

  • Solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles, CAD, CAE, GD&T

  • General understanding of electrical engineering and/or medium and high voltage engineering

  • 10+ years of experience in design and new product development in a manufacturing environment

  • Suggested certifications that will aid in this role, Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Ability to travel on business related trips. Ability to walk around the manufacturing shop floor and lift 50 pounds as needed (part inspection, part fit check, product testing, etc.)
