Description

Lee County Library System invites candidates to join our dedicated team at Library Processing. We are seeking a self­ motivated, customer-focused individual to serve as the System Administrator for the Integrated Library System (ILS) and lead the Cataloging department.

Adjacent to the East County Regional Library in Lehigh Acres, Florida, Library Processing provides centralized technical services such as selecting, ordering, cataloging, and processing materials, administering the ILS, Interlibrary Loan, and transferring of library materials to our 13 branches.

Compensation:

  • Expected hiring range: $70,000 to $90,000 annually.

  • Offer based on competencies, experience, and internal equity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads, trains, develops and evaluates assigned staff including the ILS Training and Support Librarian, the Cataloging Librarian and the Cataloging Library Associates.

  • Serves as System Administrator and point of contact for the library's ILS and OPAC, which includes managing settings, configurations, third-party integrations, inventory, statistics and upgrades to ensure efficient, reliable, and responsive functionality.

  • Provides guidance on ILS functions and policy. Provides data for system-wide initiatives and changes, recommending solutions or courses of action. Coordinates documentation and training materials. Serves a key role in system-wide circulation meetings.

  • Oversees the Cataloging department, including quality control, import and withdrawal of records, and the application of professional cataloging standards.

  • Works with vendors for cataloging and electronic ordering specifications.

  • Provides excellent and timely internal customer service, responding to employee questions, concerns, and help requests while collaborating to ensure successful public discovery of library resources and collections.

  • Stays current in best practices and new developments by taking advantage of professional development and professional literature, and participating in activities such as the Innovative Users Group (IUG) and Idea Lab.

Education, Experience, Licensing

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from an accredited graduate library school program or a closely related field.

Professional Experience: Three years of demonstrated leadership or management experience as a professional librarian.

Driver's License: Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: A Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from an accredited graduate library school program.

Professional Experience: Three or more years of in-depth working experience with an Integrated Library System. Two years supervising paid library staff. Three or more years of customer service experience in libraries.

Technology Proficiency:

  • Working knowledge and application of SQL, or ability and desire to learn SQL.

  • Learn, use and innovate existing library systems, software, and equipment.

  • Working knowledge of a wide variety of public library technologies.

  • Stay up-to-date with technological advancements.

Possible Transfers:

  • Employees may need to transfer temporarily or permanently to other library locations based on the organization’s needs.

Work Schedule:

  • This position requires 80 hours bi-weekly.

  • Hours and days will vary, including evenings, Saturdays, and some Sundays.

  • This position handles emergency calls for critical issues after-hours along with weekend calls in rotation with other staff.
