Description
As the Assistant Camp Director you will assist in the management of summer camp program at Camp Wind in the Pines in compliance with Department of Public Health requirements, Department of Early Education and Care, and health and safety regulations. Promote the highest quality of customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain all DPH regulations; support the Camp Director with enrollment, and child file maintenance.
Working with the Camp Director, schedule camp staff, including Senior Counselors, Counselors and Waterfront personnel in compliance with Department of Early Education and Care and Department of Public Health requirements.
Plan, prepare, and implement daily choice periods.
Update attendance daily and submit to the accounting department weekly.
Review incident and injury reports daily and maintain injury log in compliance with the Department of Early Education and Care and Department of Public Health requirements.
Work with the Camp Director to ensure that a creative environment is developed, implemented and maintained; develop curriculum within the programs that allow children to participate in a variety of well-planned activities throughout the summer, including summer literacy.
Supervise all staff in a supportive manner and encourage positive and effective communication among staff; provide required staff development and training opportunities; attend regular staff meetings.
Work with the Camp Director to assist families in need of intervention.
Develop good relationships with campers and parents through open and consistent communication and planned activities.
Assist in the planning of, and attend camp open houses and events.
Enforce the policies and rules of camp; manage the organization and cleanliness of camp site, thus ensuring the safety of all campers.
Ensure that camper-to-counselor ratios are maintained at all times.
Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
Minimum 21 years of age
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience in recreation, camp or child care programs required
Documented supervisory and management skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills
Experience working with families and children of diverse backgrounds
Ability to cooperate with co-workers
CPR and First Aid certification required
Strong Start training series required prior to start of employment
