Position: Environmental Project Engineer

Location: Lenexa, KS

Environmental Project Engineer - Lenexa HQ

We are looking for an experienced civil engineer with 5+ years experience to design stormwater and environmental projects in our Lenexa, KS office. Our team works with various public and private entities including GBAs internal markets and affiliates to provide environmental based solutions. Our services include field data collection, studies and master planning, design, and construction management. Project work may include stream and riverine site evaluation and restoration, streambank stabilization, lake repairs and rehabilitation, wetland design, infrastructure protection, water quality study and design, watershed planning and bridge and culvert analysis and design. The ideal candidate should be prepared for a wide variety of work, be highly motivated and have experience in design and plan development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the collection of data in the field including streams/open channel systems and enclosed (conduit and structures) systems.
  • Work with various software packages to produce figures, exhibits, and/or drawings.
  • Review existing reports and studies for information related to studies and design projects.
  • Prepare written studies and project design technical reports.
  • Prepare calculations, designs and specifications.
  • Create and update hydrologic and hydraulic computer models such as HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS.
  • Oversight of construction observation activities.
  • Experience with assessment, analysis, planning, design and rehab of stormwater systems; water quality study and design; and riverine hydraulic modeling.

Essential Functions

  • Possess effective communication skills both written and oral.
  • Must be able to work effectively both on a team and individually.
  • Must enjoy working outdoors and be willing and able to perform physical tasks, such as wading in streams.
  • Detail oriented and dedicated to quality work.
  • Candidate must be adept at working on fast-paced projects.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil, Biosystems and/or Agricultural Engineering or closely related engineering degree.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel & GIS Mapping software is a plus.
  • Current drivers license for use of Company vehicle for travel or site related assignments.

Travel:

Some local day and occasional overnight travel may be necessary for this position.
