Union Bank and Trust Company Software Quality Assurance Lead in Lincoln, Nebraska

Position Summary: The Software QA Lead spearheads a team of QA Engineers. This professional collaborates with the development, engineering, and project management teams to establish and implement QA standards and processes. The QA Lead responsible for devising an effective, scalable test strategy that employs both manual and automated procedures to meet the product’s quality objectives. 

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate test strategies by gaining a comprehensive understanding of the technical and functional aspects of business applications and product functionality.

  • Manage all integrated testing requirements to support applications, system updates, upgrades, etc.

  • Have a deep understanding of test automation best practices and be able to author and review test automation code.

  • Regularly evaluate potential project risks that could impact project quality and communicate these to key stakeholders.

  • Support the software development lifecycle (SDLC) - concept, design, test, release, and support.

  • Analyze documented requirements for accuracy, completeness, testability, compatibility, performance/load, reliability, accessibility, non-functional requirements, etc.

  • Create complex positive and negative test scenarios using an analytical risk-based test approach.

  • Plan, design, develop, and execute detailed test plans to ensure comprehensive testing of all software system components and compliance with functional/technical specifications.

  • Lead hands-on test execution (both manual and automated) for front-end (web, client/server, mobile - Android & iOS), API, database, performance/load, compatibility, usability, accessibility, and reliability.

  • Identify, document, and report bugs in the context of business value.

  • Communicate test progress, test results, and bug resolution status to project stakeholders and management.

  • Define and report on QA metrics, identify trends, and propose improvement initiatives.

  • Coordinate test environments including test data creation, configuration management, and ensuring readiness for deployment.

  • Educate and train the team to prioritize testing of critical functions and features.

  • Manage and lead a team of QA Engineers, and provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation.

  • Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and methodologies for quality assurance, and implement best practices and continuous improvement.

  • Work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Understands and adhere to all bank policies, laws, and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training and follow internal processes and controls as required.

  • Reports all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.

  • Performs other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position .

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, a similar technical degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 5-7 years of experience as a hands-on QA engineer using both manual and automated testing methods for GUIs, APIs, DBs and mobile; including successful team leadership experience.

  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies (theory and hands-on), procedures, tools, documentation, and best practices.

  • Proficient in various testing methodologies, techniques, and tools, such as functional, non-functional, regression, integration, performance, load, security, usability, and accessibility testing.

  • Management and usage experience with defect tracking, test case management, automated testing, and load/performance test tools

  • Additional technical skills required: SQL, test management tools, automated testing tools and load/performance test tools.

  • Advanced experience partnering with IT partners, Business partners and other Stakeholders to deliver quality products on schedule.

  • Additional technical skills preferred: Python, Selenium, Test Rail, gitLab, Python Django, JIRA, Zephyr, Postman, SauceLabs, .Net, JAVA, JMeter, SmartBear, DataDog .

    Working Environment:
