Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Sector is seeking experienced leaders to fill open Manager Digital Engineering 2 positions in the Airborne Multifunction Sensor Engineering organization based in Baltimore, MD. There will be multiple positions filled through this requisition.

Roles and responsibilities:

The Digital Technology Manager role will focus on two primary areas of responsibility: people leadership and technical performance. Direct reports will include design engineers as well as senior advisory and fellow engineers. Team leadership will include functional oversight of a group of 10-15 engineers comprised of mainly FPGA/Firmware/digital design engineers working on multiple programs, IRAD initiatives, and new business capture opportunities. Responsibilities include support and adherence to standard design processes, oversight of cost, schedule, and technical quality for various development, integration or production programs, and support for new business development and proposals. An additional critical responsibility is the development and advancement of the technology, including driving new design processes and determining more efficient methodologies for design.

This position is also responsible for staffing and workload forecast; employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development; employee training and identification and training of skills required to execute on programs. The responsibilities include the recruiting, sourcing, onboarding, performance management and contract maintenance for the contractors working in the business area.

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

This candidate will demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities. He/she will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals. The candidate will work closely with the directors and managers of other engineering disciplines, program directors and program managers. The ideal candidate will also be able to champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business.

10%-25% travel is expected.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 9 years of experience, a Master's degree with 7 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields.

  • U.S Citizenship is required.

  • An active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access (SAP).

  • Must have experience in management of employees or management of a project.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in mentoring and the ability to build highly engaged teams.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present knowledge to a wide variety of audiences of different backgrounds effectively.

  • Experience with designing and/or leading/managing FPGA design projects.

  • Experience in all aspects of the Digital/FPGA Design process, from requirements analysis through verification testing.

  • Proven demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields.

  • US Citizen is required.

  • Active DoD Top Secret or higher clearance.

  • Experience leading teams in a multi-disciplined engineering environment.

  • Experience leading/managing FPGA, ASIC, SoC, and/or digital subsystem design projects.

  • Knowledge of current digital technologies (FPGA, ASIC, SoC, verification, and/or subsystem).

This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain or maintain Special Program Access (SAP).

Salary Range: $145,000 - $217,400

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
