Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Regulatory Attorney - Corporate Operations.

Under the direction of the Associate General Counsel, will provide comprehensive oversight and management on a wide variety of regulatory issues including import/export, sustainability, environmental, transportation, autonomous vehicles, and other regulatory matters that impact Navistar.

Responsibilities

  • Research and maintain current knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations and laws and of industry legal standards and norms; analyze how these might impact the relevant businesses and help translate them into practical and operational guidance and proposed changes for our lines of business.

  • Exercises deep knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental statutes and regulations, and advise on major environmental statutes and regulations from the Department of Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, and California Air Recourse Board.

  • Provide legal support and guidance on environmental issues on strategic initiatives and mergers & acquisitions.

  • Knowledge of global sustainability and ESG related regulations.

  • Additional preferred experience in trade compliance, corporate governance, corporate finance, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, or bankruptcy.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of documents and agreements related to these areas of laws.

  • Manage environmental related litigation and pre-litigation matters and other regulatory related litigation directly or with the assistance of outside legal counsel.

  • Interpret applicable laws, rulings and regulations, and advise Navistar on legal rights, remedies and options.

  • Provide legal advice, support and services on a broad range of topics and issues.

  • Provide training to company personnel on substantive legal topics.

  • Help with the creation and implementation of legal policies and protocols.

  • Interact with government relations team and advises senior executives and other levels of management on various matters.

  • A strong interest in learning about new technologies and areas of the law.

Minimum Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree (JD)

  • At least 8 years of experience as an attorney

  • At least 1 year of lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

  • Must have active license to practice law in at least one state and a member in good standing of the bar.

  • Must be able to obtain a limited license in Illinois if not already appropriately licensed in Illinois.
