Job Duties : Position works with local artists and arts organizations to access state and regional resources by researching funding sources and services. Conducts on-site programming in underserved communities to share information on Arts Council grants and professional development programs. Works to build and maintain partnerships between the Arts Council and professional service organizations, state and local governments, disability advocates, and cultural nonprofits. Plans workshops on grant-writing, board development, and nonprofit management to help strengthen arts partners across the state. Serve as accessibility coordinator for the agency, as required by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Applicants must meet or exceed these qualifications : The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in historic preservation, history, English, education, general business, public administration, or a related field; plus two years of experience in a DAH specific program related area.

The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism has three major divisions: Arkansas State Parks, Arkansas Heritage and Arkansas Tourism. Arkansas State Parks manages 52 state parks and promotes Arkansas as a tourist destination for people around the country. Arkansas Heritage preserves and promotes Arkansas’s natural and cultural history and heritage through four historic museums and four cultural preservation agencies. Arkansas Tourism improves the state’s economy by generating travel and enhancing the image of the state.

Summary

The Department of Arkansas Heritage (DAH) Program Coordinator is responsible for adherence to division/department program policies and procedures, service delivery of statewide or department wide programs, and participating in the strategic planning process. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Functions

Applies goals and objectives of programs according to established state laws and agency policy/regulations. Performs cost analyses for grants and forecasts service needs. Provides technical support to various departmental agencies, including preparing, reviewing, and recommending related educational and resource materials. Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness and recommends methods of program improvements. Writes program publications and develops and conducts public presentations on program areas. Maintains appropriate contact with federal, state, and local officials and other members of the community. Represents the agency in meetings, conferences, and workgroups. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in historic preservation, history, English, education, general business, public administration, or a related field; plus two years of experience in a specific program related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
