Pulaski County Special School District Adult Education Health Sciences (CNA) Instructor/ Facilitator in Little Rock, Arkansas

LOCATION: Adult Education

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse currently licensed in Arkansas

  • Must have a minimum of two years of nursing experience, including at least one year of long-term care nursing services within the last five years. Experience should include, but is not limited to, employment in a nursing assistant education program or employment in or supervision of a nursing facility or unit, geriatrics department (excluding geriatric psychiatry), long-term acute care hospital, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting

  • Ability to manage and train CNA students onsite at approved clinical locations

  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.

  • Must pass a background check and be approved by the Office of Long-Term Care and Arkansas Nursing Registry

  • Must have updated immunization and TB skin test records

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Skilled in teaching adult learners

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet educational requirements

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently

REPORTS TO: Adult Education program and WAGE Coordinator.

JOB GOAL: The Adult Education Health Sciences Instructor/Facilitator will develop and oversee PCSSD Adult Education Health Sciences coursework and schedule for the Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) program. The Instructor/Facilitator must teach students according to the Office of Long Term Care Facility Nursing Assistant Training Curriculum to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the CNA licensing exam for Arkansas. Additionally, the instructor/ facilitator will assist students in registering for the Arkansas State CNA licensing exam. The Instructor/Facilitator must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic, ethnic, racial and educational backgrounds.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Attend a seminar approved by the Division of Aging to learn the methodology of teaching the course.

2. Assist the Adult Education Director, WAGE Coordinator and IET/WAGE Instructor in developing and implementing Health Sciences programs of study.

3. Advise the Adult Education Director, WAGE Coordinator and IET/WAGE Instructor in matters of Health Sciences programs of study.

4. Serve as a liaison between the Adult Education program and local healthcare providers and associated community partners, including creating and maintaining relationships with long term care facilities for clinical sites and for student referrals.

5. Ability to teach Phlebotomy and EKG skills.

6. Teach other instructional educational training programs developed for adults, including CPR, Phlebotomy, and/or ECG certifications

7. Maintain confidentiality and accuracy for all records on all students, including (but not limited to: attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.

8. Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained

9. Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff at clinical training facilities, PCSSD staff, and prospective employers.

10. Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.

11. Work collegially with SNAP, TANF, WIOA, academic personnel, and other community partners.

12. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Adult Education Director and WAGE Coordinator.

13. Instructor/Facilitator must follow the policy and procedures of the Pulaski County Special School District.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary Range: Range 5 - Support Staff Daily Salary Schedule ($226.96/day - $343.08/day depending on relevant experience

Length of Contract: 190 contract days

FLSA Status: Exempt

Personnel Status: Classified

Performance of this job will be evaluated according to provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
