Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation Technician I- Transmission Construction in Little Rock, Arkansas

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as on-site representative to oversee the construction, testing and repair of AECC's capital substation and transmission construction and maintenance projects.

  • Inspects wiring, electrical circuits, foundations, steel, power equipment and other construction assembly units during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, and conformance to specifications and codes.

  • Understands test equipment and tools used for construction, operations, testing and maintenance of substation equipment including breakers, transformers, regulators, switches and transmission lines.

  • Measures dimensions and verifies level, alignment, or elevation of structures or fixtures to ensure compliance to building plans and codes.

  • Maintains daily logs and supplement inspection records to track construction/contractor progress, weather delays, and other pertinent information relevant to construction contracts.

  • Reviews and interprets plans, blueprints, site layouts, specifications, or construction methods to ensure compliance to AECC construction specifications, legal requirements and safety standards.

  • Instructs and trains technician helpers on technical, operational and safety standards. Assists with safety meetings on a monthly basis, including technical topics. Implements safety in the work area.

  • Uses EAMS to track work requests, work orders, requisitions and time cards; Performs directed switching with written switching orders.

  • Tracks all field revisions and mark ups to assist with record updating process and "As Built" drafting record drawings.

  • The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.

  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, plus 3 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Drivers License

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Associate Degree in Electronics, Civil/Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.

  • Journeyman Electrician License or Master Electrician License is also desirable.

  • CDL license preferred

  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician license preferred

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Keeps supervisor informed at all times of matters important to the cooperative, particularly when member cooperatives or other power suppliers are involved. In pursuant of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to AECC/AECI standards and processes. Successful completion of prescribed NLC course lessons in Power Delivery Department training program or other prescribed training program as required.
