Overview The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHaSS) at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for a Program Coordinator I for the Heravi Peace Institute (HPI). The successful applicant will help plan and coordinate the day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operational activities of the Institute, housed in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and will report to the HPI Director. The preferred candidate will have a background in one or more areas served by the HPI: diplomacy, conflict, interfaith dialogues, peace studies, or non-profit organizations. This position is located on the Logan campus, with the responsibility to make Institute programming accessible to USU's statewide students and campuses. This is a twelve-month exempt position with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison between students, faculty, the director, advisory boards, certificate advisors, external constituencies, and/or other university entities.
  • Organizes and facilitates faculty and student advisory board and subcommittee meetings and travel.
  • Writes, edits, and coordinates development of course catalogs, promotional materials, educational materials, alumni outreach, quarterly newsletters and/or brochures.
  • Collects and analyzes data; prepares reports; monitors budget and program expenses; and maintains program records and statistical information.
  • Maintains and creates content for program website.
  • Plans, coordinates, and attends events.
  • Assists with grant reporting and management. Communicates with students and other constituencies.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree plus two years of related work experience; or a bachelors degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required. Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with event coordination.

  • Experience using Canva or other design software programs.
  • Experience with university software (Banner, Canvas Argos, Curriculog, etc.)
  • Experience managing and updating a website. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.

  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Skilled at records maintenance.
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Knowledge of principles embodied in the HPI mission.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of creativity, decision making, problem solving, and discretion.
