ICF Consulting Director - Energy and Net Zero in London, United Kingdom

Description

We are looking for a director-level hire to lead further growth in ICF's advisory services on energy policy, regulation and net zero. The successful candidate will bring significant senior experience in client engagement and leading consulting assignments, ideally with Ofgem and relevant UK government departments. You will join a diverse, dynamic and collegial team who are passionate about working on some of the most complex and challenging problems facing the UK government.

This role will:

  • lead further growth of our UK consulting offer in technology, energy and net zero, with a focus on opportunities in DESNZ, Ofgem and Defra

  • develop and proactively manage relationships with key clients including advance capture for opportunities to scale ICF's operations in the UK

  • contribute to practice leadership including development and delivery of our growth strategy

Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • Build relationships with our clients to understand and address their needs

  • Lead consulting assignments, including project teams

  • Lead proposals for new work, including building teams, developing methodologies and budgets

  • Manage project budgets, and project teams including subcontractors, and oversee the delivery of project outputs to a diverse range of clients

  • Manage and develop junior members of the team

What you'll need to succeed:

You will thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will have a wide range of interests and be able to develop a nuanced understanding of complex issues. You will have a proven track record in strategic client engagement and leading consulting assignments in relevant policy areas. You will be self-motivated and able to manage a varied workload to deadlines without compromising quality. Your experience could have been gained in consulting, government, a regulator, or the private sector.

You will have:

  • At least fifteen years of relevant professional experience

  • Expertise in UK energy policy and/or energy regulation

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience in managing large and complex projects/teams

  • Experience in proactive client engagement and leading competitive bids

  • Ability to develop and convey expertise on a topic

  • Good grasp of the strengths and weaknesses of qualitative and/or quantitative methods

  • A relevant university degree
