Vanguard Public Relations Consultant, Specialist in London, United Kingdom
Vanguard’s UK Personal Investor business is rapidly growing (#1 fastest growing platform in the UK), with over 600,000 clients and an increasingly broad range of services (ISA, JISA, SIPP, Managed Services) to support the everyday investor in reaching their desired investment outcomes. The European Marketing department has played a pivotal role in the growth of Personal Investor business through promotion of Vanguard’s brand and unique value proposition (“Value to Investors”) to direct clients through a variety of communication channels including advertising, PR, content, and digital. This role will be the lead PR point person for UK PI, responsible for protecting and amplifying our brand in the UK market.
Overview of what this role is responsible for
Develops and implements effective public relations strategies and content to promote and safeguard Vanguard’s image.
Provides counsel in supporting and determining the best media, content, and channels for communicating effectively and engaging various audiences, including the general public, customers, crew, governmental bodies, and suppliers, and the media.
Create, own & execute strategy for partnership with 3rd parties (e.g., influencers) to amplify brand.
Developing a social media strategy that drives audience interactions such as engagements and visits to our personal investor website. Provides social & creative oversight and defines content strategy, in partnership with marketing team.
Build and project manage integrated communication strategies in partnership with marketing to support UKPI initiatives.
In this role, you will report to the Head of Corporate Communications in Europe and sit in the European Corporate Communications team as well as being a key collaborator and partner to the Personal Investor Marketing team. Other stakeholders include the Personal Investor leadership team, European leadership team, European Marketing and Global Corporate Communications (amongst others).
The PR lead for UK Personal Investor represents a unique opportunity to build, own, and execute the PR strategy for the future success of our UK Personal Investor business and our clients.
Role Details:
Core Responsibilities
Provides consultation to address business area's public relations communication needs.
Develops cohesive strategy for communicating initiatives and events that are aligned to business outcomes.
Assesses and maximises impact on target external client audiences, including the general public, customers, crew, governmental bodies, and suppliers and the media.
Partners with business area to ensure appropriate public relations and communications support.
Serves as a spokesperson, manages incoming inquiries from the media and arranges interviews.
Determines cost effective means to execute key public relations deliverables.
Creates content that is clear, engaging and concise.
Captures key metrics and measures the effectiveness of external client communication solutions. Identifies trends for future application.
Researches, writes, and assists with press releases and other communication materials that are professional, effective, and accurate.
Applies Vanguard's style, usage, and brand standards to ensure consistency.
Identifies areas for improvement to enhance the effectiveness of public relations communications and its ability to execute on business objectives.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills / Experience
Financial services experience with a proven ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Basic knowledge of social media platforms preferred; however, formal social media experience is not necessary.
Interest in data-driven insights.
Qualifications
Minimum seven years related work experience.
Undergraduate degree in PR/Journalism or equivalent experience required.
