Job Summary

To effectively support the delivery of a consistent and high quality Associate Dining experience. Help maintain a highly motivated team, high standards of service and an environment fostering good will and the JW Core Values. To address all day-to-day issues that occurs within the restaurant. This includes food preparation in general, presentation, service, overseeing general stock control and maintenance of the Front of House and Kitchen Areas to a high standard in terms of presentation, hygiene and Staff Restaurant Guests interaction.

What you’ll be doing our newly appointed Staff Restaurant Chef (Chef de Partie)

  • To welcome Associates and contractors, crew and ensure through good and efficient service that correct standards of service are maintained and that the service is carried out in a courteous, efficient and pleasant manner.

  • To prepare and serve food.

  • To anticipate staffs needs whenever possible to enhance quality service and in turn enhance Associate satisfaction.

  • To ensure that all-administrative duties are in operation and deadlines met as assigned by Supervisor/ Manager

  • To contribute to associate morale, through recognition and maintain healthy inter-departmental relationships.

  • To ensure high standards of work performance, conduct and appearance are met.

  • To provide a high quality service to our staff restaurant guests, to exceed their expectations through leading by example.

  • To be responsible for the safe keeping of all keys.

  • To control Par level stock and inter-departmental transfers and assist with taking monthly inventory counts.

  • To maintain highest level of cleanliness, including safety of furniture, fixtures and fittings, front of house and back of house. To ensure the correct ambience is created, as well as compliance with 43-point checklist (Food Safety).

  • To facilitate good up and down flow of communication within the department, including maintaining memo and daily information boards holding shift briefs and allocating stations.

  • To identify training requirements for self, develop appropriate actions to meet these.

  • To promote awareness of health and safety within the department for associates and guests. Example fire alert points, exits, extinguishers, food safety due diligence documentation etc. Be aware of accident prevention and help enforce safe working conditions.

  • Keep up to date with new ideas for improving the department.

  • Follow all SOP’s and use records as instructed

  • Notify supervisor of any problems or complaints when they arise.

  • Work on any designated section as instructed

  • Attend departmental meetings and any other meetings as instructed

  • Comply with the hotels time and attendance policy (Kronos)

  • To carry out any other duty/function that may be assigned by immediate Manager, Department Head or Executive Committee Member.

What we’re looking for

  • Teamwork skills and attention to detail

  • Positive outlook and outgoing personality

  • Previous kitchen experience is required

  • Able to demonstrate competent techniques and cooking skills

  • Ability to work under pressure in a very busy kitchen

  • Capable of assisting the maintenance of the hotels food quality standards

  • Has a sound understanding of food safety standards and HACCP
