What will you do in this role?

AXIS International Casualty MGA team are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team of underwriters operating in one of the fastest-growing segments of the specialty insurance industry.

The Underwriter, will act within established guidelines to market, analyse, review, evaluate and monitor new and manage renewal accounts of all casualty program business.

Role will be focussed in the non-US delegated authority sector of the Casualty space.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Underwrite such classes of business as outlined in the Underwriting Authority to achieve targets set out in the business plan, in accordance with Axis underwriting standards.

Main point of contact for the referral business from the wide range of coverholders.

Reviews and evaluates both renewal and new business in conjunction with the senior underwriters in the team.

Establish and maintain beneficial working relationships with brokers, clients and reinsurers to develop the business, and negotiate new and renewal business.

Use formal reporting mechanisms to promptly notify relevant parties of any perceived new risks or failures of existing control measures.

Continues to develop and update product and underwriting knowledge.

Maintains up-to-date familiarity with economic and legal factors that impact the department’s products and the overall Liability industry.

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

  • Develop broad relationships across the market with brokers / Coverholders

  • Able to be the lead point of contact for AXIS with brokers / clients as necessary.

  • Work with all internal stakeholders to ensure business is efficiently managed and processed.

AUTHORITY

  • Trusted to operate within the underwriting guidelines with full underwriting authority.

  • Able to undertake all the analysis required and prepare and submit all the necessary documentation to support underwriting decisions.

  • Able to adhere to the delegated authority compliance and actuarial process and obtain all sign offs required

  • Review referrals which are outside of coverholder authority

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

What you need to have:

The ideal candidate will have experience within the liability classes, have binder knowledge and the ability to build and maintain broker and coverholder relationships

Background

  • International Insurance Casualty Experience

  • Delegated authority experience

  • Knowledge of FCA, PRA and / or Lloyd’s

  • ACII preferred

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Decisions based on data and analytics, using experience and judgement to get to the result

  • Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS Office, advanced Excel skills

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

Role Factors:

Expected to attend the office 3-4 days a week and whenever required by line manager.
