Marine Spill Response Corporation is a not-for-profit, U.S. Coast Guard Classified Oil Spill Removal Organization. MSRC was formed in 1990 to offer oil spill response services and mitigate damage to the environment. MSRC offers a full range of oil spill response capabilities intended to help meet the planning criteria of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990. 

MSRC is offering an excellent opportunity for a Response Supervisor who is ready to start their career with the leader in the oil spill response industry.  We are seeking a qualified individual who is responsible for the operation, maintenance, communications, contractor support, training and readiness of response personnel and equipment assigned to the sites within the Supervisor’s geographical area of responsibility.

Requirements of the position

•    5+ years of oil spill response or business management

•    Must have effective leadership and written and oral communication skills

•    Ability to operate industrial equipment and their systems safely 

•    Ability to operate a personal computer

•    Employment is contingent upon:

o    A successful background check

o    Drug screen

o    Pre-hire medical exam

o    A Valid driver license, TWIC card and Passport

o    Completion of 40 Hours of HAZWOPER training

Responsibilities

•    Supervise and manage the response efforts and the cleaning up of oil spills, maintain the equipment, train, and develop all subordinates, and sustain customer relations.  

•    Demonstrates leadership skills and motivates and develops subordinates.

•    Directs the use of spill response resources during spill response events, scheduled and nonscheduled drills and exercises, always taking into account:  operational readiness, operational effectiveness, customer satisfaction, cost considerations and efficient use of MSRC personnel, equipment, and contracted services. 

•    Maintains a safe work environment.  Manages sites in compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety guidelines.

•    Implements and oversees corrective and preventative maintenance programs on MSRC equipment. 

•    Responsible for budget, verification and approval of contractor/vendor invoices received for the sites assigned to the Supervisor.

•    Understands and applies all relevant agreements and regulation including elements such as activation criteria, equipment usage and the price rates, terms and conditions.

•    Understands and applies all relevant Operations Plans and Procedures including the Oil Spill Removal Organization (OSRO) requirements and Area Contingency Plans (ACPs) as well as the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA-90), associated federal and state regulations, and with other contractual obligations such as leased facility contracts, contracted crew agreements, etc.

•    Develops relationships with customers, federal, state, and local agencies, contracted Spill Team Area Responders (STARS) and other contractors. 

Physical Requirements Include, Among Others:

•    Requires standing, lifting up to 45lbs

•    Requires the ability to wear the personnel protective equipment prescribed by posted signs and written instruction

•    Able to work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain or dry environments

•    Ability to perform work in various sea conditions, under all environmental conditions, 

•    often wet/oily decks

      Salary Range $69,243.20-$134,264.00
