University of Louisville Associate Director, International Student and Scholar Services in Louisville, Kentucky

Minimum Requirements:Master's degree with two (2) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 6 (Salaried)Position Description:The Department of International Affairs is seeking an Associate Director of International Student & Scholar Services under the guidance of the Associate Vice Provost for International Affairs. The Associate Director of International Student & Scholar Services is responsible for the direction, development, and daily operations of the University of Louisville’s International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) office. The position serves as a University of Louisville Designated School Officials (DSO) to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) to the Department of State (DOS).The Associate Director will collaborate with stakeholders on and off campus to provide opportunities for F-1 and J-1 students and their dependents. This includes providing advice on maintaining status, employment authorization, income tax preparation, as well as organizing new student orientations and social programming. This individual must be project oriented and have a dedication to serving individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency is required by Department of Homeland Security and Department of State regulations to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and/or Alternate Responsible Office (ARO).Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDirect the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) administering support to and ensuring excellent and efficient customer service for the University's international student, scholar and dependent populations in F and J visa categories.Serve as a University of Louisville's Designated School Officials (DSO) and the Alternate Responsible Officer, ensuring University compliance with the regulations governing F and J visa holders and their dependents.Oversee Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) processing using Terra Dotta’s ISSS module and batch processing solution.Consistently interpret the regulations governing international students, including those related to employment benefits for optional practical training (OPT) and curricular practical training (CPT), change of status, transfer in and out, etc.Serve as an advisor, advocate and liaison for the international student and scholar population at the University and by providing services and programs that enhance the international student and scholar experience at the University of LouisvilleDevelop and implement programs and services designed to assist students with cultural adjustment and academic adjustments.Manage and maintain the International Student & Scholar Services' website, Facebook, and other social media platforms to promote the recruitment of international students and provide resources to current students and scholars and to promote the operations and program protocols of the ISSS office.Develop and lead the international student orientation each fall and spring and oversee additional on­ campus programming for international students that would benefit them while at UofL.Liaise and collaborate with appropriate campus offices on behalf of the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office (Admissions, Graduate Studies, Housing & Dining Services, Student Affairs, etc.) to effectively serve international students.Identify and work with relevant international student organizations and international student leaders on outreach, communication, and otherwise developing good relations and feedback from students, scholars, community members, and other vital partners.Create a welcoming environment and foster a climate of inclusivity for all international students and scholars at UofL.
