University of Louisville Cancer Control Specialist I in Louisville, Kentucky

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Position Description:Under the guidance of Cancer Control Specialist II colleagues, this outreach position will assist with implementation of cancer control initiatives of the Kentucky Cancer Program (KCP) in Western Kentucky. Activities include cancer prevention and early detection programs; patient and family support services; information for health care providers; and partnerships to address local problems. This individual will also assist with administrative functions associated with outreach including materials, procards, travel, purchase orders, and other business to support KCP offices in Western Kentucky.Essential duties:Assist with educational/outreach programs in Western Kentucky. Participate in cancer control coalitions/partnerships and establish working relationships with health care providers, the media, businesses, social groups, faith-based communities, and agencies, etc. Work with partners to provide linkages to patient and family support programs;Represent KCP at community events, health fairs, worksites, and other locations; compile educational materials for dissemination; and display educational exhibits.Work with KCP colleagues to design and create educational and promotional materials, both print and electronic, for use by colleagues throughout Western Kentucky; work with the KCP team to post information on social media.Enter program data in the statewide KCP reporting database for services delivered; maintain data base of mailing lists of community members, cancer survivors, and partners.Purchase and maintain an inventory of outreach materials for KCP offices; process procards, travel, and purchase orders for KCP offices.Participate in statewide KCP meetings with colleagues at UofL to plan and implement cancer control initiatives; assist in developing KCP program plans in Western Kentucky.Update the KCP Pathfinder for Western Kentucky districts/counties, entering and verifying cancer resources.Prepare and submit reports as requested.Assist KCP colleagues as requested on special projects and statewide cancer control initiatives.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of the Kentucky Cancer ProgramHas an introductory understanding of cancer controlIs familiar with health systems, businesses, non-profit groups, and others in local communitiesUnderstands the public health needs in Western KentuckyExpertise in social media, graphic design, and PowerPoint presentations The Brown Cancer Center encourages candidates to apply who have demonstrated capacity to create inclusive work environments, will work effectively on increasingly diverse teams, and will serve the increasingly diverse students we admit and want to attract.Target Compensation Maximum:$68,900.00Target Compensation Minimum:$45,900.00Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.Equal Employment OpportunityThe University of Louisville is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer, and is committed to providing employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, sex, age, color, national origin, ethnicity, creed, religion, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and expression, marital status, pregnancy, or veteran status.
